Scratch Foam Print

Using the same printmaking concepts as woodcut and linoleum block printing, Scratch Foam Printmaking offers an easy way to create beautiful scratch foam prints. We use water-based, non-toxic block printing inks which makes clean-up a snap. Here’s a small gallery of scratch foam prints made by young and old alike.

The process is simple:

  • Using a pencil, draw on a thin piece of foam which serves as your printing plate.
  • Use a rubber brayer to roll ink onto your plate.
  • Place your inked plate onto a piece of paper.
  • Rub the paper into the inked foam plate to transfer the ink onto the paper with a large spoon or spatula.
  • Peel apart the plate from the paper, and voila! You have a scratch foam print!
